This is a 1-year position reporting to Dr. Norman Li, to start as soon as possible, and no later than February 1, 2017. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in a project involving a funded international collaboration with top scholars. The project will utilize evolutionary psychological perspectives and social psychological methods to study the low fertility issue that pervades all of East Asia and much of Europe. Responsibilities include: 1) assembling, managing, and orchestrating various experimental studies, 2) supervising a team of research assistants, 3) managing organizational and administrative work associated with the grant, 4) assisting with various aspects of manuscript preparation (e.g., literature review, data analysis, writing), and 5) attending to miscellaneous (ad hoc) tasks as needed.
We are seeking these qualifications/skills:
• PhD in social or evolutionary psychology
• Track record in publishing peer-reviewed journal articles
• Organizational skills and ability to manage research assistants
• Conscientiousness and self-motivation (can make meaningful, timely progress with minimal supervision)
• Motivation and ability to identify ways to expand or improve aspects of the research

A postdoctoral position is available with the Evolutionary Social Psychology Lab in the Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan. This is a 2-year position and will involve working closely and collaboratively with Dr. Joshua Ackerman and his graduate and undergraduate students. The lab’s research involves applying evolutionary theory to topics in threat management, life history effects, intergroup cognition, romantic relationships, and decision making. Our primary focus is on the range of cognitions, emotions, and behaviors that occur in response to current and historical infectious disease threats. We also plan to incorporate physiological measurement linking immune system functioning to psychological outcomes. Research includes laboratory and field work using both experimental and correlational designs.

The Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History in Jena (Germany) are seeking to employ two full-time postdoctoral researchers in the field of cultural evolution. The positions are tied to the Minds and Traditions research group (“the Mint”), an Independent Max Planck Research Group that will open in 2016. They are for 2 years, renewable for a total of 5 years maximum, starting in the first half of 2016. Candidates need to have completed a PhD, and to be familiar with the field of cultural evolution. They will be expected to take part in a research project devoted to the cognitive science and cultural evolution of graphic codes. Two full-time Research Assistant positions are being offered by the University of Stirling to work on a European Research Council (ERC) funded project entitled ‘The Cog in the Ratchet: Illuminating the Cognitive Mechanisms Generating Human Cumulative Culture’. The research team for the project will consist of the PI (Christine Caldwell), two postdoctoral researchers and four PhD students. The current advert is for the two research assistant positions, with the four (4-year) studentships to be advertised later in the project.
The posts are offered as fixed term, full-time appointments for 30 months to start 1 September 2015. After 30 months there will be the potential to extend to five years.
